planting a garden
One of the ideas we have here at Kavanah is to build a garden in every home we renovate, and every housing project we are involved with. We just think it would be really cool for the families and individuals that live in the homes we’ve renovated to be able to go out to their garden, and pick from a variety of produce to add to their breakfast, lunch, and dinner plates. A family of three could save over $1,000 a year just by growing their own salad!
So, we’ve been researching self-watering gardens and we will be our own guinea pig. Sometime this month, we will be drawing out the plans, rolling up the sleeves, and digging in the dirt. This self-watering system involves old plastic storage bins, a drill gun, fence boards, and red solo cups!
Now… what to plant???
No really, what should we plant… in August… in the Northern California heat?
