On September 14th 2015, we lost a beloved Board Member, Dana Lookadoo. If you did not have the fortune of knowing her, please take a moment to see an example of the heart of our team…
Dana was ranked among the top three female leaders in her industry; SEO/Multimedia/Digital Marketing. She had been spotlighted in several magazines, had thousands of Twitter and blog followers, spoke at many conferences, etc. But on a personal level, she changed the world, and the atmosphere around her.
A few years ago, Dana was attending a major conference. She ran in to an “old friend”. Actually, it was a young man she had only known via social media. He was also in the industry, attending the same conference. Dana truly lived a life where she never met a stranger she didn’t like. She greeted this young man with a hug and her big “Dana” smile! She introduced him to several people, some ‘big names’ in the industry, if you will. She offered this young man much encouragement and guidance. That was the one and only time Dana and this young man met face to face.
We wouldn’t know, until a later date, that this young man was actually living in his car at the time. He was ready to give up, and that conference was his last go at the industry. That weekend, he met Dana, and his life was forever changed.
There have been hundreds of stories shared on social media, just like this one about Dana. She could not leave a room without (unknowingly) inspiring, encouraging, or offering her support to someone. This is why we (KAVANAH, her friends, and her family), have started a scholarship fund in her honor.
Our goal is to raise $1m. This is a HUGE goal, we know! However, this would allow up to $10,000 in scholarships to be given every year through a managed scholarship fund, without having to ever raise funds again. If you would like to help youths achieve their dream of gaining a strong education in the field of multimedia and digital marketing, we thank you for donating toward the Dana Lookadoo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Dana, we promise your legacy will live on in each of us. We will remember to say hello to people we don’t know. We will remember to encourage each other. We will remember to push through and climb the hills before us. We will remember to smile a big smile, and laugh a big laugh. And we will do this in honor of you, and the life you lived… until we meet again.

We thank you, in advance, for your donation.
